also put a strain on the health of the PSBs reflected in their declining Return
on Assets (ROA) and Return on Equity (ROE) ratios which turned negative in 2016
for the first time in decadeBut even private banks have been plagued by a high
share of NPAs. The gross non-performing assets of all scheduled commercial
